Open INTEROP Workshop On
"Enterprise Modelling and Ontologies
for Interoperability"
EMOI - INTEROP 2004
Co-located with CaiSE'04 Conference
Riga ( Latvia), 7-8 June 2004
For info: interop-wsp@iasi.cnr.it
INTEROP is a Network of Excellence, aiming at creating
a Europe-wide research network on the themes supporting solutions for enterprise
interoperability, from the technological, to methodological, organizational,
and cultural perspectives.
World-class competitiveness of European enterprises,
including SMEs, strongly will depend, in the future, on their ability to concretise
massively and rapidly on networked dynamic organisations. New Technologies and
Methodologies for Interoperability, within and between enterprises, have to
emerge to radically solve the recurrent difficulties - largely due to the lack
of conceptual approaches - encountered to structure and interlink enterprises'
systems (information, decision, action, production).
Today, research on interoperability of enterprise applications
does not exist as a defined discipline. INTEROP, that has been launched as a
result of IST Thematic Network IDEAS, the roadmap for interoperability research,
emphasises the need for integrating three key thematic areas:
-
Ontology to identify interoperability semantics
in the enterprise
-
Enterprise Modelling to define interoperability
requirements and models
-
Architectures and Enabling technologies to provide
implementation frameworks
Within this frame, we wish to call papers
for a Workshop co-located with CaiSE'04. It will have a double nature: firstly,
it will be an open event where on going research on the above areas, with a
special focus on modelling for interoperability, will be presented and confronted;
secondly, it will reserve a space for the presentation of activities carried
out within the INTEROP NoE, and in particular for the research areas of Enterprise
Modelling and Ontologies
Main topics
The topics of the workshop will be mainly those coming
from the promoting Workpackages of INTEROP Network of Excellence, that is:
WP 1: Knowledge map for Enterprise Modeling, Ontology, Architecture and Platform
for interoperability
WP 5: Common Enterprise Modelling Framework-UEML V2.0
WP 8: Ontology-based integration of Enterprise Modelling and Architecture
& Platforms
Furthermore, we wish to emphasise that this is an
Open Workshop, therefore we wish to invite contributions addressing the main
theme of the CAiSE conference, in the light and with the specificity of the
workshop: Enterprise Modeling and Ontologies foe Interoperability.
In particular we invite paper that address (but not
exclusively) the following topics:
-
Requirements Engineering for ontologies
-
Methodologies, Models, and Tools for ontology building
-
Enterprise Modelling Methods and Tools, in light of achieving interoperability
-
Interoperable Inter-enterprise Workflow Systems
-
Knowledge Management, Metadata and Ontologies
-
Semantic annotation
-
Enterprise Application Analysis and semantic divergence detection
-
Languages and Protocols for ontology-based interoperability
-
Semantic Web and its impact to interoperability
Organization
The workshop will last two days, with the aim of allowing
a wide and open debate on new, emerging ideas to take place in the cross-fertilizing
area of ontology and enterprise modelling. The workshop will be organised in
four sections, suitably balanced, with different aims:
