Software Engineering (SE) department was founded in 1998 separating from Informatics and programming department. The task of SE department is to prepare high qualification specialists in computer science. These specialists will be able to implement, test and maintain different software systems using advanced methods and technologies as well as to manage software project.

SE department with Applied computer systems and Informatics and programming departments prepare computer science specialists (bachelors, engineers, masters) in “Applied computer systems software” as well as provides college education for such degrees as “Programming technician” and “Applied computer systems software engineer”. SE department professors supervise engineering science Ph.D. projects.

The Head of SE department is professor Larissa Zaitseva. There are 3 teachers, computer class administrator and leading specialist working at the SE department. Ph.D. students are also involved in teaching process. Scientific interests are as follows: Computer-aided (based) teaching and learning systems, Web-based teaching and learning systems, Knowledge control algorithms and methods, Teaching and learning systems adaptation and adaptability problems, Teaching and learning management.
